Hey Students, Our grand cycle race and annual fun sports are scheduled for today 06th February 2015. The cycling event shall feature a two-in-one racer and mountain bike race. The races shall ride five laps around the Dennery circuit. The course starts from the school’s junction on Mole Road, and then take the following route:
- Northbound through Dennery Village
- Up La Pointe
- Left turn unto the Castries to Vieux Fort Highway in the junction next to Hilltop Restaurant
- Southbound along the highway
- Left turn into Mole Road at the crossroads before the Dennery Bridge
Racers are required to complete 5 laps and Mountain Bikers 3 laps.
Upon the completion of that race, the male BMX race combined with the ladies race shall start at the same point. However, the route for that race is different from the above event and is as follows:
- Northbound through Dennery Village
- Left turn into Victoria Road before Dennery Post Office
- Through Victoria Road to the Castries to Vieux Fort Highway
- Southbound along the highway
- Left turn into Mole Road at the crossroads before the Dennery Bridge
The male BMX and ladies simultaneous races shall shall be of 3 laps duration.
All riders are to ensure that have signed consent forms from their parents and guardians. Additionally appropriate riding gear is expected. Helmets and a limited number of bikes shall be provided thanks to the Saint Lucia National Cyclists Association. As previously mentioned during assembly, arrangements have been put in place to transport bikes belonging to riders residing in communities other than Dennery free of charge to the school.
As regards fun sports, there shall be 6 events. These are namely.
- Lime and spoon
- Needle and thread
- Filling the bottle
- A new event called “balancing the bottle.”
- Tug of war
