Monday 30th November 2020
Final New Content Delivery Day
Today, Monday 30th November 2020, Day 7, Cycle 3 of the the online delivery mode, marks the last day schedule delivery of new lesson material for the term. Students will be guided by teachers to engage is in meaningful revision. In the case of CXC exam candidates, coverage of new material as directed by teachers, work on SBAs and revision are not only essential, but expected.


Lift of Ban on Student/Teacher Face to Face Activities on School Compounds
The Ministry of Education has eased the restriction which prohibited face to face interaction between students and teachers on school compounds. Teachers who so wish can schedule tutorials for groups of up to 10 students on school premises. All COVID-19 prevention regulations (wearing of masks, six feet physical distancing, hand sanitisation, temperature checks, etc) remain in full effect. Additionally, parental consent for student attendance at those lessons will be required

CXC Exam Fee Payment Deadline
Everyone was notified via email (and in some cases WhatsApp) two weeks ago about the Friday 04th December 2020 deadline date for the payment of CXC exams registration fees.

However student registration on the CXC system, student subject choice and recommendations and preparation of payment slips cannot be completed until the students supply the requisite information. As early as the start of the term, students have continuously been asked to provide their subject list and birth certificates (to ensure accurate information is entered). Those who have not done so are hereby urgently asked to submit the information to Mr Myers, their Year Heads or their homeroom teachers without further delay.

Continuous Assessment This Term
As is stands, we will not be having conventional end of term exams this terms. As such, teachers as are asked to continue pursue all avenues at their disposal to reach as many students as possible. Students for their par must make the required effort effort to complete as many exercises and assessments as possible.

It has been noticed some students do have the means to access online classes and resources based on their login status but have chosen to do no work. This is unacceptable. The cooperation of parents will be needed to to address this issue.

Suspension of All Face to Face Activity On School Compounds
Following the latest precautionary school closures, permission was granted by the Ministry of Education to teachers who wished to proceed with small group interactions for student SBAs and tutorials. However today, Thursday 12 November 2020, a directive has been issued to cease any type of face to face activity between students and teachers at all academic institutions around the island until further notice.

Extended Closure of School
In light of the increased COVID-19 transmission rates, the Government of Saint Lucia, by way of Saint Lucia Government Gazette Vol. 189 • Issue 64 • Friday October 30, 2020, has directed that school shall remain closed until the 30th of November 2020.

Reverting to Online Lesson Delivery Mode
As a result of the COVID-19 related closure, we will be reverting to the online lesson delivery mode. A seven-day cycle will be used starting with Day One on Monday 2nd November 2020.

All Schools to Remain Closed for Two Further Weeks

In response to an increasing rate of community transmission, all academic institutions shall remain closed for two extra weeks from the proposed Monday 26th October 2020 resumption of classes.

The projected reopening date has now been tentatively set to Monday 09th November 2020.

Collection of Government Issued Tablets to Form 3 Students

Parent of form three students are hereby asked to report to to the school on on Thursday 22nd October 2020 to collect their children’s tablets (Ebook devices). Please note the following guidelines must be followed:

  • Face masks must worn at all times upon entering the compound
  • Tablets will be issued per home room as follows:
    • 3-1 – 9:00am to 10:00am
    • 3-2 – 10:00am to 11:00am
    • 3-3 – 11:00am to 12:00pm
  • Parents must have in their possession, a photo ID of themselves or their children’s school ID
  • Parents who are unable to collect may appoint a representative. That person shall not be be less than 18 years old and the same ID requirements shall apply
  • Individuals collecting tablets will be required to fill in and sign a contract

Schools to Remain Closed for Another Week

In light of COVID-19 developments directly impacting a school on the island, the Ministry of Education has altered the duration of the single day closure scheduled for today Friday 16th October 2020 to a full week. Castries Comprehensive Secondary School shall remain closed for two weeks.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, school is expected to resume on Monday 26th October 2020. Castries Comprehensive, Monday 2nd November.

As a cautionary measure to guard against the recent cases of community transmission, the Ministry of Education has declared all educational institutions shall be closed on Friday 16th October 2020.

Cancellation of Classes (Today 06th October 2020
)
Please note due to extensive flooding on the compound, classes have been cancelled today Tuesday 06 October 2020. If the rain stops and the flood water recedes, classes will resume on Wednesday, 07 October, 2020.
