The CMMSS U-15 cricket team bowled off its campaign in the National U-15 Secondary Schools Cricket 25-Over Tournament on Wednesday 15th October 2014 at the Dennery Cricket Ground versus next door neighbours Grande Riviere Secondary. The competion was only confirmed the week before which meant that there was very little preparation time. Normally that tournament is staged in the third term. The lack of practice was glaringly evident based on the number of wides and injudicious shot selection. Grande Riviere amassed a total of 112 in 21 overs – the innings being reduced by 4 overs due to a rain interruption. In reply CMMSS was dismissed for a paltry 67 runs losing heavily by 45 runs.
The following day, CMMSS faced Micoud at the same venue in a match featuring even more dismal performances. As with the previous day, CMMSS won the toss and elected to bowl first. Micoud posted a total of 106 a all out. The seemingly achievable target once again proved to be beyond the reach of the CMMSS batsmen who succumbed for a an unimpressive 64.
Tuesday 21st October will be the team’s final opening round match versus Anse Ger Secondary. With two defeats, qualification to the second round will be difficult as only two teams from each group progress to the second round.
All the best boys!
