In round two of the the inter-secondary school under-15 competition, CMMSS faced Dennery derby rivals Grande Riviere Secondary on Wednesday 29th October 2014, at the Dennery Football Field. Although the match was largely dominated by GRSS, their profligacy in front of goal was not emulated by the CMMSS forwards who were much more clinical.
CMMSS led by 1 goal to nil at the end of the 35 minute half, thanks to a bundled effort in the 34th minute by Zen John during a melee in the GRSS penalty area. The second goal was a superb strike by Sherman St. Rose in the 37th minute, who following some neat build up play, was able to control a through pass, compose himself and beat the goalkeeper with a firm low shot to his right. St. Rose sealed the 3 points in the 59th minute following some sloppy goalkeeping by the Grande Riviere stopper.
Meanwhile former CMMSS student and current GRSS striker Morpheus Degailliard was evidently feeling a touch of nostalgia for his old school. He along with his fellow attackers from GRSS squandered numerous chances to get themselves on the score sheet. They either kept shooting wide of the target or straight at CMMSS goalkeeper Terry Antoine who was undoubtedly overflowing with gratitude for the dismal efforts on goal. Thanks for the generosity Morphie :).
Congrats boys!
